I’ve had this lovely lady for awhile now; she’s no relation! She’s from a “boutique” thrift shop. When the family gathers from out of town and a little too much champagne has been consumed, we try to guess her real name (there’s no clue as to who she really is). Ethel? Genevieve? Betsy? Go ahead…you can play too!

Hm, she looks like she'd have at least a 3-syllable name like Genevieve. Maybe Marjorie? Clotilde? Henrietta?
It's a nice portrait, in any case!
I agree with multiple syllables. Clotilde is good, how about Margaret. A margaret who was NEVER called peggy.
To me, she sure does look like a Betsy! Just that prim, proper Betsy from the 50's. The perfect wife...
I love your blog so much. I started looking at older posts this morning. I could spend an entire evening reading everything. I just might do that.
Here's a special request (when Mommy has time - or IF Mommy has time). Do you think you could reprint your tea light Pyrex cup photo/story on The Pyrex Collective. I LOVE that photo.
All the best,
Erin
3 syllables - love it! I am a Margaret, never been a Peggy! Love that, too! But a part of me thinks she could have been an Elizabeth (Betsy among the Palm Beachers).
Erin, consider your request done & done.
I think she shocked everyone, even back in the day, by revealing that her name was indeed: GEORGE.
mabel. or jane. she's wonderful.
New to your blog and loving it.
I think she's a Joan.
